Frequently Asked Questions

Why use mouthwash?

Cavities, tender bleeding gums (gingivitis, periodontitis), bad breath, strep throat, and oral infections are all caused by pathogens (bacteria, viruses, fungi)*. Mouthwash helps cleanse the mouth of these bad guys. Very few rinses, like Aloeha Rx’s [Supercharged] Oral Rinse, can directly target bad odors and help whiten stains, too. Gentle and supports healing without the use of irritating petroleum-derived chemicals? Now you’re probably just talking about us - and we love it.

*Mouthwash is supplemental, NOT a substitute for professional care. Many issues require treatment to address underlying issues, which can lead to more serious problems if left untreated!

What is hypochlorous acid (HOCl)?

Hypochlorous acid (HOCl) is one of nature’s most potent antimicrobials - it’s naturally produced by our immune system to neutralize bacteria, viruses, fungi, and spores. Despite its being ~100 times more effective than bleach, HOCl is remarkably gentle. Our cells, and many of our beneficial bacteria buddies, have protection against HOCl’s oxidizing power. That makes HOCl (and our rinse/spray) one of your body’s greatest allies.

How’s HOCl made?

In nature: HOCl is created when lightning strikes the ocean, when your white blood cells attack pathogens, and in the atmosphere (ozone regulation).

At Aloeha Rx: By electrolyzing [Supercharging] food-grade salt and pure water. With proprietary temperature, pH, duration, and amperage control, in a state-of-the-art facility, of course.

Is Aloeha Rx’s rinse better than traditional/prescription rinses?

We're not going to make that claim. HOWEVER..

The VAST majority of rinses, breath sprays, and antiseptics are either cytotoxic (damages tissues, slows healing), petroleum-derived, staining, drying, irritating, odor masking (fragrance/artificial flavors), or are only for oral use.

We reimagined oral care from the ground up, addressing thousands of patients’ complaints, to make one of the greatest multi-purpose rinses for in-office, at-home, and on-the-go use.

Is HOCl safe?

Hypochlorous acid (at our concentration, 0.015%) is very safe. There are no residual toxic chemicals left over after use, as it breaks down into salt and water - making it safe for all ages.

How should it be stored?

Extended heat, UV, and air will slowly degrade hypochlorous acid over time. Therefore, our rinse and spray need to be stored somewhere cool (< 77°F) and kept closed when not in use. Our black and amber bottles purposefully block 99-100% of UV from sunlight.

What’s the shelf life?

Our proprietary formula’s stable for an industry-leading 18 months after its manufacture date, even after opening. Check product base or label for the expiration date.

Can I use the rinse and spray on my skin?

Yes! Hypochlorous acid is used extensively in dermatology and cosmetic products to cleanse away pore-clogging/acne-causing bacteria, soothe irritated skin, and rapidly eliminate odor at its source.

Our pH-neutral, high-performance rinse is uniquely formulated to be as gentle as water on your skin and your mouth.

How do I fix bad breath and reverse small cavities?

**Routine dental visits to address hidden issues that may not be able to resolved with home care alone.

Reduce the amount of time food and drinks are in your mouth. Carbohydrates and sugars are what most cavity, gum disease, and odor-causing bacteria eat. Rinsing with water after eating - and throughout the day - removes a lot of food that would otherwise linger until you brush and floss. Drinking lots of water lets you make more saliva, even more protection. Brush nightly, ideally with an ultrasonic toothbrush. Floss or water-floss, brushing won’t clean between teeth!

Intermittent fasting, a balanced low-carb diet (Dr. Berg’s Keto!), high-fat dairy (grass-fed for vitamin K2), eating prebiotics (nitrogen-rich greens), and probiotics (cultured yogurt, fermented veggies - sauerkraut, kimchi, natto, etc.) can help restore microbial balance (regulate problematic mouth and gut pathogens), improve whole body health (nitrous oxide production), and improve your mood!

Aloeha Rx’s rinse, spray, and eggshell-derived, nano-hydroxyapatite (coming soon in: glass vials for DIY toothpaste, and in our pro-grade, Supercharged Toothpaste with aloe, coconut oil, L-arginine, organic plant extracts, and more) are all formulated to work together and help you naturally heal yourself*!

*To be clear, not all cavities or issues are reversible, and we're not claiming our products will reverse them. Please routinely seek professional guidance to address issues early, as delayed treatment often leads to more severe issues, requiring more extensive treatment.

Why are my teeth sensitive?

Sensitivity is your body's way of telling you something's not right. These are the top 3 most common causes that I've seen over my 10+ years
of practicing:

1) Carbonated Drinks: Topo Chicos, sodas, or anything with carbonation (carbonic acid) is acididc (pH<5.5), and will remove calcium from your teeth if it stays in your mouth. Tip - Don't sip on carbonated drinks. Rinsing with water helps neutralize acid, so your teeth's pores stay closed, and more resistant to temperature changes.

2) Recession: Losing gum coverage at the base of your teeth is often caused by poor brushing/flossing, a bad bite (teeth forces angled instead of vertical), grinding, or trauma. Recession exposes your roots (cementum) which have larger pores that are more susceptible to feeling temperature changes. Tip: Have your dentist/orthodontist evaluate your
bite. Brush with a low abrasive, non-peroxide toothpaste (to avoid opening
pores). Leave toothpaste, ideally with potassium and nano-hydroxyapatite, on
your teeth for longer than normal (i.e. 5 minutes or spit without rinsing).

3. Cavities: Cavities are caused by bacteria eating carbohydrates/sugar which they use to make acid and create holes in your teeth. High acid (like with carbonated drinks) also open teeth pores, effectively making cold drinks feel really cold. Tip: Don't let carbs or sugar stay in your mouth for long. Rinse with water frequently, especially after
eating to remove food and neutralize acid. Floss/brush regularly to remove food rinsing can't remove (aka starve that bacteria).
